Yeah, the soundtrack has a lot to do with its success, but music is part of a movie. A lot of iconic movies have popular/awesome soundtracks.

Dude, no. I love the music to bits -- first CD I ever bought (with my own money)! -- but I love the movie for its own merits as well. Plus, I love the first couple of sequels as well as the TV series.

Personally, I mostly love the movie because it gave us the tv series. Okay, and also the soundtrack. Though, really less the Highlander soundtrack itself and more the A Kind of Magic album. I was obsessed with that album as a kid.

Nope, I think it's a good film on its own account. But as someone who has seen it when it was a Thing - and then all the kids would "play Highlander" in school - well, it would be disingenuous on my part to say nostalgia doesn't play a role in my appreciation of the movie.

Well it's a very beautiful movie. Great action scenes, great scenery, great editing. It's pretty awesome all in all. But yes, the soundtrack helps.

Also, no. I give a shit about this movie because I love Connor and I love Ramirez and it gave the world the motherfucking Kurgan and thus Clancy Brown in all his myriad wonderfulness and also I like making fun of the sequels. The soundtrack's frosting on a yummy, yummy cake.

And also Freddy Mercury swordfights Connor with a mike stand in the Princes music video and I'm pretty sure that's more epic than any of us will ever be even if you didn't care about the song.
