Heh, I know what you mean. I haven't learnt ancient Greek, just Latin, so ped- is related to feet to me. (That's why I'm glad that it's spelled paed- in the UK.) When I was younger, I thought a pediatrician was someone who took care of feet. (English is not my first language, as I should probably mention.)
