Wait, it's FFX? Not FFVII or even VIII like I was futilely hoping it might be? Oh, well, I like the summon designs a lot in X, so hopefully those will look super cool in HD.

This! As much as I would love a FFVII remake, it got it's HD whoring said and done with AC and then AC:Complete! If anything deserves a remake it's most definitely VIII.

Heh, that's the way I feel about IX. Supposedly, it's both Hironobu Sakaguchi's and Nobuo Uematsu's favorite FF to date, and yet... :( Love VIII too, though, and would not at all be opposed to seeing it in delicious PS3-graphics glory. ♥

I totally agree. FFIX really needs a remake. I especially think this because it's one FF that is a little more ignored by the fandom because of it's "cute" graphics. I think that the game needs another chance. If they remade it with updated graphics (although I would like them to keep the art style in some way) more people may give it a chance, and they will finally see the awesomeness of IX. :D

I seriously doubt it, considering 95% of FF7 was cutesy graphics and there are popular cutesy graphics games before and after FF9. And it wasn't really all that cutesy either.

FF9 wasn't anything spectacular for prosperity. It's an extremely fun as hell game but overall, it paled in comparison to the imapct that FF7 or FF10 had (and FF8 too even though FF8 is a much worse game and is one of the worst written FFs with a shitty battle system but it still managed to stand out in its own way). It didn't distinguished itself enough and it was a tribute to FF and JRPG in particular and it played liked it. I remember when it was out people used to comment that it was the most JRPG of the FF series so far and that hurt its staying power or didn't appeal to a lot of the fans.

I think it tend to be overrated with its fans because Zidane was a breath of fresh air after having two sorta dreary protags with Cloud (with his mental issues) and Squall (and his whatever).

...Except a lot of people DID ignore FFIX because of it's graphics. Where have you been? After VIII's more realistic looking characters people were disappointed with the more cartoony look that IX had. I still see people say that they can't take it seriously because of the graphics.

As for VII's cutesy graphics I've also seen tons of people defend them because of the year that it came out...

I wasn't even talking about it's "impact." Just because it's a tribute to the old games doesn't mean it copied them. It can definitely stand on it's own. It really just took some themes from them, and then updated the older style of battle gameplay.

For a lot people VII or X was their first FF game, and THAT is why they had more of an impact. Those were the biggest gateway FF games. The many would compare those to any new FF that came out after or before.

But really all I meant to say was that it would be nice, so that people who didn't give it a chance before might now. I mean III wasn't exactly a huge change to the series, and it wasn't it famous but it still got a remake. So... I don't see your point at all.

IA. I'm not ashamed to admit that I didn't play FFVII or FFIX because I didn't like the graphics. If I'm going to stare at something for 50+ hours I want to enjoy what it looks like. I heard people recommend them and rave about them, but I just couldn't get past the graphics. I would welcome a remake of either one because then I would probably sit and play them. I did play all the other FF games though.

I was holding out for an VIII remake as well :( I'm thoroughly disappointed in Square. And all that despite people in Japan once answered in a poll that the game they want to see being remade the most is FFVIII :/
