It annoys me that so many people in the fandom think if you like Draco you must be misinterpreting him, or confusing him with Tom Felton or fanon!Draco, or think you can "change" him.

I like Draco for purely canon reasons, thankyouverymuch, and have since the second book. I don't have to analyze the text poorly in order to like the character.

Yeah, this. I mean, to be fair, I started disliking the trio around the same time as I started warming up to Draco, but it's not like I write bashfic about them or am convinced they're secretly evil. It's more a matter of some characters grabbing you when others don't.

Yeah, I was never big on the traditional heroics. I don't hate the trio -it'd be hard to read the series if I did - but none of them is in my top 5 or even my top 10 characters.

A lot of it comes down to personality types for me- I'm a fairly reserved, calculating person in real life, so when, say, Draco provokes Ron into lashing out, I can't sympathize with Ron there because I don't understand getting mad at the same things Draco always says. But I love McGonagall and have a soft spot for Ginny, so go figure.

I liked him from the first time he showed up; I thought he was funny and a bit oblivious but rather charming (but reading the scene on the train was like... watching a train wreck, heh). Harry is my favourite, and I love the three main characters, but I love Draco as well. I really hate the divide in part of the fandom where you have to put Harry down to lift Draco up. I think it's completely unnecessary.

I think a lot of people get that way about villains, though. If you make them too smart/cool/sexy, some people go into tizzies. I'm not sure quite why. Overly sensitive villain-sue-dar?
