I came here to post like that exact comment. :/ They had a pretty solid lineup from VII-IX, and yet they skip over them completely to remake X instead? Bullshit.

Ah, a IX remake would totally make my day!

But seriously, X is not that old! And the graphics are still excellent for an early PS2 game. There's no need! And here we have VII where they have blocks for hands and infrequently have mouths. I mean, the VII graphics are charming, but is sorely in need for an upgrade outside of shitty Compilation games and movies.

A remake of IX would make my LIFE. ♥___♥

I honestly think they're scared shitless to remake VII because they know that no matter what they do, they're going to get dogpiled for messing with the crown jewel of their franchise. Keep it the same and just update the graphics? People will complain. Change things from the original? People will complain. I feel like they'd rather everyone be upset with them for NOT remaking it than everyone be upset with them for remaking it and doing it "WRONG" and "RUINING IT FOREVER".

I don't understand why that would prevent them from making it. They've already done everything else they could do with the FFVII franchise. A lot of things that should've gotten dogpiled if it was any other franchise, but because the fans for FFVII are so damn loyal they ate it all up. They made a movie, they made AUs, they made spin offs... I can't think of any good reason for them not to remake it. The original isn't going anywhere and if people want to play that, they can. I don't see why they would have to change the storyline at all either. They wouldn't have to since it's a gold mine. FFVII is one of those games that they'd just have to update the graphical parts and people would buy it.

Personally I'm glad that they did. FFVII is so massively overhyped and overrated already, it doesn't need a remake. I guess a FFVIII or IX remake would have been okay though...
