Watch the movie again. Danny loves her the way she is the whole time. He doesn't ask her to change; she chooses to. So you don't have to change if you don't want to and someone will love you the way you are. Don't let people get you down with their BS.

I always thought that the problem wasn't that she wasn't putting out, but that she didn't fit in with her new crowd, and they thought she was looking down on them. She succumbed to peer pressure and changed her look.

I kind of wish she hadn't gone so radically different. Obviously, Danny loved her, and she was a good influence on him (he was the only one to graduate thanks to the PE credit). And you know what, even though they gave her a hard time, the other greeser girls did make friends with her.

Actually though what bothered me most wasn't the spray-on pants and the dripping make up, but the fact that she took up smoking to be cool. Way to pick up a bad habit.

I really don't think there was any peer pressure to speak of. After the slumber party, they pretty much leave her alone about being a goodie goodie. The girls accept her the way she is and she hangs out with them regardless. Her choice to change was just her choice, just like Danny's choice to get his act together in school was his choice too.

The smoking did bother me though lol.

Whenever I think about her smoking in the movie, I think of a documentary about smoking that I watched in high school about a woman dying of emphysema and she described how the reason she initially tried smoking was because she wanted to be cool like Sandy in the end of Grease. :(
