While I agree with you that I think it was a stupid idea for Tonks and Lupin to have a baby during the darkest times of the war, I've got to play Devil's Advocate here. Didn't James and Lily do the same thing seventeen years before with Harry? And the Longbottoms? And the Weasleys had, what, 75% of their children during Voldemort's first war? It seems that Voldie never stopped the wizarding world from making babies.

Except a large part of their secret was that JKR is obsessed with everyone having babies, and this comment proves that? Not sure where you're going with this, honestly.

...No? But if you're going to say JKR is not obsessed with babies regardless of the circumstances, saying "But these characters were babies then!" does not make a good argument.

I really don't see how pointing out when the Harry and company were born hurts the argument. I think it helps the point a lot of people are making that this is the sort of thing that happens during war and tense situations and she didn't just pull it out of nowhere/it's completely nonsensical when it comes to Tonks/Lupin- given that nobody questioned it the first time around.

Exactly. She said she intentionally gave Lupin and Tonks a kid so there'd be an orphan at the end like Harry and Neville. That's what bothers me. Not that they had a kid but that she did it with the intention of killing his parents just to have the "It ends how it began." I don't think it really felt as emotionally impactful as it should have since it was so rushed and almost all "off camera".

Er, no need to have that much of a reaction, but yes, that's why Teddy happened. She wanted to kill some parents, and it was very nearly Arthur Weasley. It may be the entire reason Tonks was in the books in the first place.

But I think OP's point was that Tonks (as an auror and member of the Order) and Lupin (as part of the Order)were manpower in the war, and tbh the 'good guys' need all the manpower they can get. So it comes off as really irresponsible of Tonks to sideline herself with a pregnancy. Contrast with the Weasleys.
