Really? You take this way too seriously. Plus other, more in depth sortings are far more accurate than a 7 question quiz.

[identity profile] classic-mold137.livejournal.com 2011-09-20 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
I got the same house on Pottermore that I did when I took the 125 questions quiz.

(Anonymous) 2011-09-20 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
Congrats?

[identity profile] classic-mold137.livejournal.com 2011-09-20 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. It was what I wanted :D

Link to this 125 question quiz, by any chance? I haven't been in the fandom at all really but that sounds fascinating.

Thank you!

Not saying you're wrong, just that the Pottermore quiz isn't completely inaccurate.

[identity profile] allstarzs.livejournal.com 2011-09-20 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Fair enough. But then I think all sorting quizes are ridiculous because for the most part I can tell which answer is linked to which house.

[identity profile] piepeloe.livejournal.com 2011-09-20 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
I pretty much get the same result on every Sorting quiz. Including the Pottermore one.

[identity profile] writerserenyty.livejournal.com 2011-09-20 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Same here. I'm pretty consistently a Hufflepuff, and that showed on Pottermore.

I identify a lot more strongly with the house I was sorted into at [community profile] hogwarts_elite than the house a seven question quiz (where some of the questions were like "heads or tails").

[identity profile] frozenish.livejournal.com 2011-09-20 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a little confused. How can you claim any of these quizzes are more "accurate" than others? And if you know what's more accurate, then why can't you just head-sort yourself and not have to take any quizzes in the first place?

And really the sorting quiz only needs three questions:

1. Are you evil? y -> Slytherin; n-> go to 2.

2. Are you really studious (and probably a lil boring)? y -> Ravenclaw; "no" and "yes, but I have other personality traits as well" -> go to 3.

3. Are you brave (and kind of a jerk)? y -> Gryffindor; n-> ...And Hufflepuff takes the rest.

[identity profile] allstarzs.livejournal.com 2011-09-20 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Hey hey!! Hufflepuff's are loyal and true and just. None of this 'take the rest' bullshit. The other quizzes have far more questions and aren't as terribly vague.

[identity profile] frozenish.livejournal.com 2011-09-20 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
But Hufflepuff actually said she would "teach the lot and treat them just the same." As opposed to the other houses who had more, shall we say, strenuous qualifications for entry. I think it's admirable! I'm a Hufflepuff!

But anyway, my point with the accuracy thing was just that I think it's silly to make some claims to accuracy based on number of questions or whatever, because who's writing these quizzes, anyway? Not the Sorting Hat, that's for sure. It's randos on the internet who think, "Well, I'll ask a question about if you want to be President, and if you say yes, point for Slytherin." It's like, I could tell myself that in half a second.

Tbh if Rowling had something to do with the Pottermore quiz (and idk, I'm not on the site), I'll take her word for it.

[identity profile] allstarzs.livejournal.com 2011-09-20 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, I get really protective over Hufflepuff. I have had to defend the house against so many idiots who take the piss that I tend to overreact.

I agree with about the question thing. Some are ridiculously easy to read and you can see which answer mean which house. It's just what I have heard about the Pottermore quiz is that a lot of the questions are really really vague and really have no barring on what house you would be put in, plus it's only 7 random questions. If there really was 150 questions in total or whatever I don't understand why they don't use all of them.

OP

(Anonymous) 2011-09-20 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, really. And I didn't say I had refrained from any other Sorting Quizzes since Pottermore, either. I've gotten Gryffindor every time. Every. Time.

I think a lot of people who think other quizzes are "more accurate" either prize qualities in themselves that aren't necessarily truly their most prominent qualities, and that other Sorting quizzes have woefully obvious answers that can be selected to intentionally influence results. To me, that doesn't make a quiz "more accurate" - it makes it a useless waste of time designed to stroke one's ego by telling someone they belong where they aspire to. Just like every other fannish quiz written by teenagers on the Internet.

Also, I only got two questions for which there were only two answers. The rest of my questions had between four and five answers. So no, it's not like I chose "stars," "dawn," "white chess piece" "heads" and "right," ended up in Gryffindor, and was really impressed with myself. I thought for a good ten to twenty minutes on some of my questions, and answered them carefully and truthfully.

Interesting! And I agree with you about most quizzes on the 'net. I'm looking forward to seeing where the quiz places me in October. I like that the outcome isn't completely obvious with her quiz. Besides, who knows the qualities of the houses better than the author herself? As to people who get sorted into different houses on different accounts; they probably have qualities that would fit with several houses like harry did.

Then why does it say in the secret that you avoided sorting quizes like the plague??
