HOLY CRAP. I read that book in middle school! Which was longer ago than I care to confess to.

I don't remember a damn thing about it, alas, but seeing that cover was a huge nostalgia bomb regardless.

Today is a good day. :D

AAAHH me too. :)

I loved that book.

Don't ask me what happened in it though. Is there a laundry chute involved? Who knows.

aaaaa me too! The only thing I remember was that the alien had like two elbows on each arm and I really really liked the book and I couldn't remember the title the other day.

/nostalgia

But hyperspace navigators all see it differently. What if your hyper space was nightmarish and gross?

I've actually thought way too much about this, lol. I loved that book when I was a kid.

Since I have some forms of synesthesia, I always figured the tastes/sounds/sights would be somewhat similar to my normal experiences of the world. Hyperspace itself all sounded like abstract shapes set in aether to produce similar feelings in each hyperspace navigator, so I think I'd be okay. The worst thing that could happen for me, if this technology existed, is to see a sickening grey blur.

/has also thought about this a lot & is glad to not be alone in thinking about it. :D

Either I mistake your shape and making quite,
Or else you are that shrewd and knavish sprite.
Call'd Robin Goodfellow!

This is one of those rare books that I consider practically perfect in every way. It taught me coping techniques for dealing with fear, to feel sympathy for my enemies, the value about trying to listen and learn about other people and their cultures, that parents can still love you even if you fail out of school (and for which stupidity is only one reason to do badly), and hope.

All the characters are amazing, the plot is wrapped up in an amazingly satisfying way, and there is the promise of a future. (All with a strong female protagonist! And antagonist!) I couldn't ask for a better book, honestly. I never thought a sequel was needed.

OH MY GOD that was my favorite book when I was lil. I cried because I knew it wasn't real, and never could be. ;.;

(fkin' awesome other people read and enjoyed it, too!) ^_^

The Secret Garden was always my go-to book for when I was ill.

But Alien Secrets was my road-trip book buddy, always. :)

(seriously, I want Shoowa to be real and hyperspace to be navigable the way this book describes you have no idea)
