I guess it helps with the whole bloodcolortint stuff going on in the face, and I think it's really cute! Noses are under appreciated, anyways. With all the nose-less animus running around, it's nice to see some portrayal of the aesthetic beauty of the humble olfactory organ. :3

It can be a cheap way to stylize but due to blood circulation ears and noses often are at least as red as cheeks. I get annoyed at overdone "blushes," it just looks like makeup.

I don't even like Homestuck but hat crap makes me nuts. Or people that make the entire nose a different color entirely. Like are the wearing a fake nose? Stop that.

I always think little embellishes like that are the artist's privilege. They went to the work of drawing it, they can put little touches on it that don't severely detract from the picture (imo anyway). I think it looks sweet and adds a charming, kind of rustic tone to it? idk idg the hate, basically.

Draw your own pictures if you hate it so much.

It's an art trend that can, more often than not, be overdone in a piece, and it winds up looking just ridiculous. It makes the character look drunk/sick, and distracts from the rest of it. Not to mention, it's all too often does as a cheap and easy way to define contours, and that in of itself kinda pisses me off.

meh. i personally don't like it and honestly i refuse to do it with my own artwork (unless it's like a furry character with a nose that actually IS a different color, see icon...) but it's nothing to like, actually hate or think less of an artist for.......... :/

also i feel bad for the fanartist whose picture you used for this secret, because it's actually really cute, and not NEARLY as bad with the blushnose as some other pictures i've seen. :/

I really hate it too. I don't even LIKE Homestuck, but I hate the style on anything. Icon colourings, etc.

I really hate that just-below-the-eye blush-with-the-shine mark, too. Argh. I can't wait until that goes out of 'fashion'.

I like how you picked a picture where it barely shows. I get what you mean but you can't even tell on the kids and on the non-purple/blue trolls. So good job highlighting your point on how obnoxious it is (I'm on the fence about it personally).

I think it's cute and some people actually have thinner skin on their noses, which makes the nose look redder than the rest of their face. It doesn't seem weird to me to use that in an art style when it's based on how some people actually look?

I can't stand it mostly because it's a dumb fad. I didn't mind it at first, when it was only a few people doing blush noses and the way they did it lent itself well to their art styles as a whole. But then more and more people started doing it, until it snowballed into the fad it is now. And I feel like fad art choices detract from the quality of individual pieces of art, because it tells me people aren't really thinking about the stylistic choices they're making. It's the same reason a lot of amateur anime-styled fanart bugs me. :\

(And it bugs me especially in troll fanart because Karkat's blood secrecy is supposed to be a plot point...)
