For me it's because in season 5 Cas acted like he played no part in starting the apocalypse, dogging on Sam and Dean for their parts while ignoring his own explicit involvement. I don't blame him for following orders but I blame him for how he acted afterwards.

Oh, don't get me wrong, his hypocrisy bothered me a lot. In fact it almost made me not like the character for awhile. But Dean's hypocrisy over the whole Crowley conspiracy upset me more. It's like everybody can fuck up but Castiel. Sam fucks a demon, drinks her blood, and ultimately sets Lucifer free. Bobby actually sells his soul to Crowley, damning himself to eternal torture that Dean himself had been through first-hand. But god forbid Castiel follow suit in order to save our world and his. Was it the right choice? No. He lied to and manipulated everyone involved and therefore deserved to be called out on his shit.

I'm upset because none of them had any room for that harsh of judgment and I'm equally upset that they spent the entire season not giving a shit about what he was going through until it involved them directly. They may be selfless heroes to strangers but when it comes to the people they "love" they can be the most selfless douchebags ever.

I want to frame this comment and put it on my virtual SPN wall. You pretty much wrote everything that bothered me about Cas' treatment in season 6 in one neat paragraph.

Now don't even get me started on Dean's self-righteous behaviour in the premiere...
