What's weird about a straight female being attracted to a man? I rather thought that was what defined being straight?

He can identify as a man all he wants. He can look like a man, have the hormones of a man and all of that. But people need to stop acting like that means straight women who like the dick should automatically think of him as any other dude when it comes to relationships.

For some women (and some men), the real-life penis is important, and that doesn't make them bad people. Just incompatible with FTMs. Sorry if that hurts, but it's true.

Here's a question though - if you didn't know that he was born a woman, would that change your opinion, your level of attraction, your your need to defend yourself with "the real-life penis is important"? Gender acceptance, of course, should extend to everyone, regardless of whether or not they can "pass," but you're putting far to much emphasis on genitalia here. Frankly, I forget that he was ever a woman just by looking at him. I don't see what having or not having a penis has to do with simple attraction on the part of a straight woman.

Not the OP, but...if I didn't know he lacked a penis, my attraction would remain until sex was happening and he didn't have a penis. I'm actually kind of surprised that people are being getting so defensive about this, because sex is physical and the physical bits matter to nearly everyone. They just do.

Yeah, I realize that "the physical bits" matter to nearly everyone, but I'm talking more about simple superficial attraction to someone rather than a more serious level of attraction involving the idea/possibility of sex happening with them. Since the OP is likely never going to be in that scenario, I don't see what the big confusion of their attraction to them is, especially it's pretty much impossible to tell just by looking at him whether Chaz Bono has "the physical bits" or not.

Which is kind of my point. We're not talking about a person who is in a relationship with Chaz Bono, we're talking about an attraction to a celebrity that they will likely never meet and will likely remain superficial.

Also not OP, but to echo the previous commenter: I've never personally been attracted to a FtM (as far as I know), but I've pondered the situation and I think yes, it is important. I don't think they're bad people. I just like what I like. You know? I'd personally say it's no different than finding out your lover has waaaay to much body hair and being turned off. If you're wanting a fulfilling sexual relationship but you just can't it's not fair to either of you to force it.

Is it shallow? Probably. Can I help it? No. But that's why we have words for people who can look past the "parts."
