I will completely support Julian Assange until the day I die, because I believe he's doing important work. I believe wholeheartedly in government accountability and transparency, and Assange has done good work for both of those things. I will not deny, however, that it does worry me sometimes- he could be killed for his actions, or other people could be killed for his actions if he forgets to redact something. It doesn't make it less important, but in his position, there are a lot of other things he has to worry about.

While I can kind of see the connection between the two, I don't think Rita Skeeter's intentions were... completely uncorrupt (is that even a word?), I guess? She was more interested in muckraking, and keeping the Ministry of Magic in charge of the Daily Prophet, at least in the fourth book. In the later books she redeemed herself by posting Dumbledore's biography and Harry's interview in the Quibbler, but she still will always have the sort of corruption that comes with helping a corrupt entity keep control. So I don't really see her and Assange as equals?

TL;DR anon just had surgery and is hopped up on narcotic painkillers and rambles on about Julian Assange and Rita Skeeter.

And on another note, I kind of want fic of the two of them.
