(Anonymous) 2011-09-25 04:16 am (UTC)(link)Look, I've made some great friends in fandom, and I've become more enlightened and educated on any number of real-life things as a result of it. I write for fun, not to "improve my craft" or anything like that, but I have no problem with people who use fic for different purposes.
But at the end of the day, we're writing fictional (often sexed-up) stories about someone else's fictional characters. Um, hello? It is goofy. That's what makes it so awesome. Some of us don't mind being called goofy. Hell, we even embrace it and recognize that there's much value to be had in goofy things.
