It makes me wonder if fandom is even the right place for you, because it's inevitable, even in a tiny fandom, that you will encounter people who have different takes on the canon and like different things. And if you can't let that go, if it taints the whole experience, that sucks. Whereas if you just privately enjoy something, you can have the room to yourself, completely pure and undiluted.
On the other hand, I love a huge fandom, because that means that I never run out of things that I could possibly like. I have minimal emotional investment in the parts of fandom that don't appeal to me, but even the stuff I dislike fires up my imagination, if only to meta about my likes and dislikes, which is fun itself.
