Who ever said you needed to take the people behind AO3 seriously, anyway? Like others have said, if you just consider it another place to get/post fic and stay away from the organizational aspects of it, it's pretty harmless.

Every single hobby in the world, there are people who are taking it way too seriously right this second. Also, probably every person you have ever met in your life has something they take way too seriously, when you get right down to it.
