I politely disagree, op. Both men were too stubborn to admit that their similarities were larger than their differences.

There was never really any physical, emotional, or anything, attraction between the two. Their intense rivalry and hatred wouldn't be a good base for a healthy relationship, anyway. (I could sorta see occasional hatesex going on, actually.)

Snape never saw Harry as anything other than James Jr. who unfortunately had Lily's eyes.

Harry showed interest in girls, and Snape honestly didn't seem to be his type even if he were willing to date men.

I grant you, there was a smidgen of chance that, had things gone differently, and had both tried honestly -like, Harry not snooping around in Snape's pensieve in OotP, Harry trying harder at Potions, Snape trying to bond with him over Lily or at least LISTEN, and, ya know, Snape not dying-, they might have become friends of a sort. Romantic partners? Doubtful. Kindred spirits of a sort? It could have happened.

I could never get into Harry/Snape partly cause of the age difference and partly cause I fell in love with the idea of them having a gen relationship and had stumbled upon http://potionsandsnitches.net early on in my HP fandom days.

There have been some awesome kindred spirit fics, but it's been forever since I've read them so I can't offer a fic rec or two.

I find it kinda amusing that you mentioned that Harry showed interest in girls, yet didn't say anything about Snape's life revolving around Lily, even after her death.

Anyway, I completely agree. I ship Snape/Harry occasionally, but as canon stands, I can't see them developing a romance. I have read a good few AUs where their relationship is done convincingly. The kindred spirits thing would be pretty damn awesome though ("The Wendell that Wasn't" is all sorts of adorable).

! I didn't even realize I was doing that. I guess that I see Snape as this sort of lonely, bitter guy who shows no interest in anyone, so I don't think of him as a very sexual being.

Also, he's a teacher. I flashback to my school whenever I think about teachers and I don't want to wonder about my former teachers' sex lives. D:
