I didn't have any intention of seeing this film at all but went because a friend of mine really wanted to, and when I did I immediately loved Tom's depiction of Loki and by the end of it I became very teary and noticed myself sympathizing him in the scenes you mentioned OP.
I don't think you need to feel embaressed, I feel like this movie really put in some strong character traits within Loki, and they wanted us to relate to the antagonist of the film. Just a personal opinion.

Ok id really k what this thing you're talking about is, but... well, yeah, most people aren't intentionally thinking, "Hmm, how can I fuck over women and reinforce the patriarchy today?" but guess what just because it's not necessarily intentional doesn't mean it doesn't still happen. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say she is probably just trying to point out how insidious and normalized things that are harmful to women are.
