General comments:

I think one of the funniest parts of FS is that the trolls become loyal readers without realizing what they're doing. FS is up! Let's go! Let's comment! Yeah we're trolling woo! Every day... faithfully... and none of them know this place was made to troll all of fandom in the first place and they're only buying into the system

Nope, I'm one of those lurkers who I'm sure gets dismissed as a stupid fangirl and assumed to be genuinely interested in secrets when in reality I'm here for the beautiful train wrecks like... I'd say a good 50% or more of all of us :)

This pretty much happened to me, I will own up to it.

I submitted a bunch of completely ridiculous secrets like a year ago. The responses were so sincere and enraging, I was immediately sucked into arguing with them on their level and I've been here ever since.

Sometimes I will try to troll a thread but I almost always end up getting genuinely invested.

I have become what I hate. Oh well.

This SORT OF happened to me. A friend linked me to a secret, and I laughed at her for reading F!S ... and then immediately got invested in several threads of the same post ಠ_ಠ

Man I posted a secret about wanting Daffy Duck to be my brother or something it was so obviously a troll and everyone got so insane about it it made me insane about it and now here i am what happened idk

There are so few secrets now, and they're all so boring. I can't even remember the last time I saw a creative secret, troll or otherwise.

I have seen some great stuff on FS, it's just been too long since :(

I wonder why this is so. Is it because all the weird-awesome secrets have come out already? Is it because the original comm members have grown up and moved away from fandom? Is it the work of diabolical forces? Tumblr sucking away posters? The slightly stricter modding? What is it? What? What?!

I know this isn't really the place to ask, but I don't use LJ that much.

Is it possible for me to receive updates from comms via text message?

Idt they can text them but if your phone has internet you can track comms through email

According to Cracked.com, in each recaptcha one of the words is from documents that we are helping transcribe (the other is for verification purposes). Legit?

(It would explain why there are so many numbers appearing instead of real words.)

Interesting theory, except more than half the time I don't get real words. They're like made up words that sounds almost real, but one or two letters are wrong. Think Ns instead of Ms.

The recaptcha graphic itself used to include a link to that information. Did they get rid of it? That's how I wound up finding out about distributed proofreaders (http://www.pgdp.net/c/).
