Nah, just bored.

My problem is considering them all just het fans, when not everyone ships just one thing.

Dunno, maybe there is some language barrier we cannot step over here, but yeah, I just answered that. Maybe on LJ people are more keen on shipping more variably, but outside LJ on various anime and manga forums it is not the case. Especially where males fans dominate fandom space or teen girls, who are either full BL fangirls who despise het, or full het fans who despise slash.

Though, I have to laugh at you mentioning Hetalia or BASARA, since that's probably two of THE most slash friendly/heavy fandoms I've ever been in.

Slash friendly on LJ. When the Hetalia manga came out in my country even the publisher insisted there is no homosexuality in the manga and denied it even after being told that yes, certain scenes are full of gay. I came across several people (in English fandom) who said that all the "homo shit" in Hetalia is just for fun and/or fujioshi panreding and shouldn't be taken seriously and there is absolutely nothing between Italy and Germany, they are just good friends.

Again, Basara is slash friendly on LJ, but try telling fans on anime forums that fighting is the synonym of sex and the series is the gayest show of that season, and you would get things like "you are the cancer that is killing anime".

Really, with your first post you reminded me terribly of those who are all "but what about the heterosexuals!!!".

Dunno, maybe there is some language barrier we cannot step over here, but yeah, I just answered that.

Actually, you didn't answer it in your initial post, at all. You just went on a flaming row about how much het fans in fandoms hate slash. Which isn't the case. Some het fans hate slash. Just how some slash fans hate het. You can't make blanket statements, and expect people to take you seriously.

As far as Hetalia is concerned, if a publisher insists on such a ridiculous statement, I can only assume they're either idiotic or haven't bothered to actually read what they're publishing. But for BASARA, if anyone is going around saying that it's "the gayest show of the season," then yeah, they kinda have any bashing they get coming to them. BASARA is a hack n' slash GAME first, and an anime second. The whole point of the game is to fight; to try and say that the fighting in the anime symbolizes anything but, well, the fighting in the game is taking symbolism way too far.

Also, most fandoms I've seen outside of LJ have been pretty slash friendly, to be honest. The only places I've seen that really haven't been are things like gaming forums that, as you said, are male dominated. Those also have a tendency to have some very obvious misogynistic threads going through them, as well. It's a shame places like that are in such a state, and you know a lot of the men on those forums probably don't agree with the negative statements made, but they most likely don't want to speak up and get kicked out of the Boys Club. Which is why I take the smart route, and avoid the hell out of them.

Sorry you thought my first post was anything like that, when it was more directed toward the idea of not pigeon holing people in fandom.

So you're saying that when a show that isn't labelled as BL or yuri starts introducing same-sex relationships the general attitude towards it is positive? That most people who are more than alright with hetero romance (the so called "het shippers") aren't all "fucking hell, another fujioshi pandering shit"?

You can't make blanket statements, and expect people to take you seriously.

I am an anon commenter on a community dedicated to secrets that say things like how much they want to get fucked by a fictional character, and "how you are the X to my Y", and how they judge people on the Internet for liking Harry Potter over Darren Shan. I doubt anyone here could be taken seriously.

About Hetalia: you have to distinguish between those in fandom and those who don't participate in fandom activity. Fandom is heavy loaded with slash, as it is with many other fandoms, but the casual fans don't see it and don't like it when someone calls it to their attention. I've met quite many paople outside fandom who read Hetalia and found nothing gay about it and if you mentioned that oh yes, some boy/boy pairings might be canon, they would throw away their copies instantly or just laugh in your face.

But for BASARA, if anyone is going around saying that it's "the gayest show of the season," then yeah, they kinda have any bashing they get coming to them.

Like how Karina/Kotetsu shippers who believe it will become canon deserve the counter-bashing they get? :3

And this secret was about T&B. OP was talking about het shippers in the T&B fandom, not in other fandoms, not het shippers in general, but the het shippers who happened to have watched T&B, shipped K/K and assumed it would becaome canon just because she's the main female lead, and upon seeing that it didn't happen that way, they started to spew hateful and homophobic insults towards K/B shippers.

BASARA is a hack n' slash GAME first, and an anime second.

And the grass is green, and the sky is blue. Why did you feel the need to state the obvious?

And yes, Basara was quite gay, or as /a/ might call it, ~fabulous~ in a manly way. But still gay.

Also, most fandoms I've seen outside of LJ have been pretty slash friendly, to be honest. The only places I've seen that really haven't been are things like gaming forums that, as you said, are male dominated.

Tumblr doesn't count. And nah, fandom outside LJ is quite male dominated (and quite homophobic) on most anime forums, with the possible exception of Mangafox where the rabid teen girls are running loose.
