As long as you people consider it acceptable to seat John atop Karkat/Dave/Eridan's flagpole, I reserve the right to ship Kanaya with any male I please.

Sexuality doesn't become a non-object only in certain instances.

It is completely and totally fine to ship whatever you want, however you want. However, I get the feeling you're overlooking homosexual erasure.

I understand was homosexual erasure is (I'm a queer lady, so yes I know >>) but how does this make sense in fandom at all. I don't think homosexuality as a concept is in any danger of being erased in fandom, in fact it's one of the view facets of popular culture where this is true. One Kanaya/MaleChar fic is not going to erase the tons of femmeslash there is with her.

I think the massive amounts of Kanaya femmeslash out there are wonderful, and it helps make the fandom bearable. And truthfully, it's not the Kanaya/male character fic that gets on my nerves: it's the small-yet-vocal part of the fandom that insists Kanaya isn't a lesbian, that she is bisexual (usually citing that all trolls are bisexual and that Hussie's forumspring answers shouldn't be taken a canon) and should be treated as bisexual in canon. I love fandom and every shiny thing you can do with it, even if it involves pairings I don't like, but I just can't believe that some fans would blatantly ignore canon just because they don't like it.

you can ship kanaya with a dude if you want to, no one's saying you can't because you definitely can. but i have always been under the impression that you should recognize that kanaya is canonically a lesbian.
