I don't really think he's asexual but there's not indication that he isn't asexual. I think it's kinda silly when people get so intense over his sexuality. There's no evidence on EITHER side. The fact that he tells John he's not interested in a relationship doesn't automatically mean he's asexual. It could mean that but it could also just mean he's not freaking interested in a relationship. Sometimes people go through phases where they want relationships and phases when they don't.

Taking one stance or another for the sake of fic is cool but going crazy over it is just ridiculous.

Well, I'm someone who's not asexual but has had years of not wanting to be (and not being) in relationships. I have no issue with the fanon being he's asexual, but in canon I see no proof either way.
