I honestly think Moffat thinks the viewers are idiots. This is the second time he pulled his "OMG, isn't this a twist!" thing waaaay after many viewers ha already figured out what the twist was...

I think Moffat kind of realized fandom had figured out where he was going and decided to backtrack and come up with a bunch of nonsensical ridiculous plots that weren't even necessary in the end because he still took it all to the same conclusion.

I would have preferred if he had just been playing with us and the "Wedding of River Song" title had been a smoke screen for something else. Having the Doctor and River get married seemed pointless and only seemed to serve as, "Well now that you're my wife, you'll do what I say!" (that may not have been the point, but I just got this sketchy feeling from it.)

Yes, because Davies not being subtle and shoving the plot in our face wasn't condescending or thinking we were idiots at all.

The most subtle thing Davies ever did was YANA and four fucking beats. Everything else was spoon-fed.

They're both not good writers, but at least Moffat leaves things in the episodes you can notice when going back.

We're talking about a story written by Stephen Moffat. What does whether Davies was a good writer or not have to do with it?

Because if you dislike Moffat's writing you must clearly love Davies because it's always Davies vs Moffat and an eternal yin and yang battle throughout Whodom. And this is bad because apparently Davies is a terrible writer and we're not allowed to like his stories and must praise Moffat.

At least, that appears to be the logic sometimes applied here. Also, you're not allowed to just discuss Moffat's writing. Someone always brings RTD into it with- "WELL OH YEA AT LEAST DIDNT DO XYZ THING RTD THIS!.....etc etc.
