I watched Thor because a friend of mine fell head over heels in love with it and she usually has pretty good judgement, but came out severely disappointed. I'm up to my ears in the fandom now, but that's only because Loki latched onto my brain and somehow managed to transcend his source material, and make everything associated with him do the same. But every time I rewatch Thor, I'm disappointed all over again. Weird experience.

I watched Captain America because I want to see The Avengers with full knowledge of the backstory and mentally refer to it as The Continued Misadventures of Loki, and was disappointed by that one as well. However, the characters overall were much more interesting and likeable, and objectively speaking, the writing was much better. Steve is adorbs and Peggy was fantastic and it broke my heart that they were separated, but not even they inspire the same level of borderline-obsession Loki does.

So, speaking as someone more accurately described as a Thor fan than a Cap America fan, I have to say I agree with you. :) Overall, I have to say I found the Iron Man films were the best of the bunch so far.
