you don't want to know how Star Trek generations ended, the fish didn't even get a mention even though their bowl got all smashed.

This is one of the reasons why I love Richard Donner. When he was directing The Omen, and the script called for the goldfish bowl to be dropped, he instead used dead sardines (painted orange).

The one in the third picture's a beta fish...

I know what you mean, though. Whenever it happens I cringe and want for it to be rescued, but you usually never get to see if they survive or not. :c

Is it just goldfish or fish in general? I ask because there was a scene in the movie A fish called wanda that you might find really disturbing if this extends beyond goldfish.

Oh man, me too! I'm always anxious as to whether or not it survives. I like when they show that it's okay; it makes me give a huge sigh of relief.

I understand, OP. Fish are just kind of... dumb and innocent and silly-looking and that's why I love them.

Since I've become a fish owner myself it also extends to cringing and anger when I see fictional fish kept in tiny bowls (that poor goldfish in the top picture needs at least 30 gallons!), even if it's just a drawing or ad or whatever. My betta's enjoying his 5-gallon all to himself, thanks. </ soapbox >

But he saves it in Dark City!

It makes me sad though too. As well as seeing fish in bowls and tanks that are too small.

SAVE THE GOLDFISH

That's really interesting. Did you have a fish when you were little? I have that exact same reaction with cats (except I actually like cats whereas you don't like fish). More than any other animal (almost all of which I love), if a cat is threatened, I will get REALLY pissed off. I think it was because I grew up with cats, and always had very good experiences with them.

Total Recall. Sure, there's people getting gunned down and run over by monster machines, but in one scene there's a poor goldfish just sitting on the ground gaping for air. What made it worse is I knew all the people were fine, but that goldfish probably really died :(

I always cried in Lady and the Tramp when the Siamese cats nearly killed that goldfish. :c

Wow, coincidence. Just a moment ago I saw a commercial on television for some new Johnny Depp movie that ended with a clip of him grabbing a fish bowl and for whatever reason starting to drink from it (with the goldfish inside.) I think the title was The Rum Diaries, or something to the effect. Not sure I want to know what he was drinking in that case....

I know how you feel! I thought I was the only one who would always get upset! I cry whenever a goldfish is just flopping around, breathing for water (an oxymoron! XD), just suffering in bits and pieces of glass. I couldn't watch that scene in Babe: Pig In The City because I would just cry.

I love fish, and I always hate when they pay no attention to the fish in movies too. Makes me wince, I really hope they don't use real fish for those scenes.
