It's not Molly's best moment, to be sure, but I still love her. She was totally the kind of person who buys into what she reads in a magazine (see also: how obsessed she was with Gilderoy Lockheart), so it makes sense that she'd eat up what Rita Skeeter wrote. Also she is fiercely protective of what she considers to be her family, and Harry falls into that category since he doesn't have a living mother of his own.

I agree. I always felt that Molly only started believing Skeeter because Skeeter was up at the school more often and could actually see what was going on, whereas I doubt any of the kids were keeping her updated on what was actually happening.

Seriously, I get that Molly's not perfect, but she is rather sweet and I wish more people would remember that.
