I think it's disturbing because the main character is so young and alone, and to know that that's what's floating around inside her subconscious... :(

I also subscribe to the hypothesis that the game's setting is a post-apocalyptic world, and Madotsuki is seeking refuge in her dreams and refusing to leave the apartment for fear of being devoured by monsters. (Her apartment has been ravaged, already, if you check out the dimensions there's only enough horizontal space for her room. HER DOOR OPENS INTO NOTHINGNESS. Also, the sky looks... apocalyptic like. There is no life outside, there is no TV signal and that's why you can only access her crappy videogame.

I like that theory of it. ♥ I know she's a hikikomori but I always wondered if perhaps there wasn't another reason for that. Why does she refuse to leave her apartment?
