um, pretty sure OP is referencing the plot of the Assassin's Creed series, The Assassins (Altair, Desmond, Ezio) are all part of this SUPER! secret organization that fights the badguys of the series: The Templars....who are pretty much like Freemasons, only they go a lot farther back.

TL;DR, I think OP might be inferring that her history teacher is a conspiracy nut or something?

I honestly don't get why everyone has such a problem with this secret.

You've never looked at a person and gone "Man, he's totally a Time Lord!" or "Wow, I think she must be a secret agent!" or something? It's not serious, but they just come off that way, so it's fun to think of them doing those things.
