I sort of see your point, especially with the woman who is in the potion house...BUT, I still find the Redeads worse. I think for me it's the sound they make. I hate it when you can hear them but aren't sure where they are. And it only gets worse when one does manage to jump you. I end up nearly breaking my thumb mashing A to get the damned thing off me.

It's the sound that does it for me, too. When they scream, I scream. I try to play the Sun's Song before that happens.

Except for how I almost never played/play myself, because it's so scary - I still have the game, but now that my sister's not there to play it for me while I'm watching, I almost never put it on because I hate playing it myself. Those sounds. *shudder*

I haven't been scared of the dark since I was a wee girl but once about a year or two ago I made to mistake of playing a Redead heavy bit of OOT at 2am. I couldn't sleep that night and needed to stay up with the light on. I was 24.

Huh. Somewhat off-topic, but that sounds akin to how Regenerators in RE4 are creepy: when you can hear them breathing and know they're there, but you haven't spotted them yet.

(My very first encounter with those things was so entertainingly scary, wow.)

Sounds like a similar problem. The Redeads sort of moan zombie-like and occasionally I was a complete idiot and walked into a room or path where they were, didn't see them and by the time they scream it's too late cos Link can't move. So you can either try getting it off your face as it basically humps you to death or just give up and reload the game!

That IS a somewhat similar problem: the Regenerators liked that grab-ahold-and-kill-you move too (albeit in a rather different fashion: biting not "humping"), though they fortunately didn't have a stun-inducing scream (which sounds freaky).
