I love Maria too. I think she's an amazing mirror-image of Dexter, the way she struggles so hard to be human...when the writers bother to give her anything even resembling a coherent storyline. They put us through that secret relationship with Angel (YAAAAWN) and *whatever* the hell that failure pile in a sadness bowl was that happened between them in season 5 - SO LAME.

Put me down as another vote on the "thinks Dexter is a TOTALLY sexist fandom" tally. So many fans (like my irl guyfriends who watch the show) have no respect for any character with a vagina, they just want to see **small season six spoiler*** Dexter get a blow job from a random chick, and go on (again, some more) about how OMG SO GREAT John Lithgow's performance was (yes, he was good, holy f'n shit, move on). And done forget to add Lumen to the the "female characters that fans love tear to bits" category.

PS I adore Deb. The scene season where she calmly warned a hissy-fit throwing Jordan Chase that he was going to get disappeared gave me chills.
