Why complain about this now? I thought it was pretty well-known that MK vs. DCU was a piece of shit.

Get over it and go buy the new MK game, it's 100000000000x better.

Seconding this.

Although, one thing that bugged the hell out of me in the new MK game in terms of aesthetics was Kitana's fucking block of hair. They should've just stuck it up in a ponytail if they want it to behave that way. >_< They can add boob physics, but they can't make her hair flowy... WTF.

This FOREVER. The hair movement for everyone in the game is ATROCIOUS. How can we have games like Bayonetta and Arkham Asylum/City, and still have shit graphics and animation like that today?!

I thought Batman: Arkham City/Asylum's character graphics were atrocious, tbh. The Unreal Engine really isn't kind to character models. It gives them that freaky plastic Ken doll appearance. The dead eyes and awkward lighting doesn't help.

Bruce Wayne's character model is probably the best example of this. He is literally a living Ken doll, right down to the plastic painted-on hair.

I'm kind of on the fence about the character renders themselves, but as far as the movement and animation, it flows a lot more realistically than what they're doing for hair in MK.

That's fair enough. The animations main characters was really well done (particularly the Joker), but the non-playable characters are as stiff as a board. And I can't stand that plastic Ken doll look that most of the character had. It keeps reminding me that the games could look so so beautiful, if only Rocksteady used a different engine.

Though I'm guessing hair is a pretty difficult thing to animate in general. The best console graphics I can think of are Uncharted's and the hair movements still weren't quite...right.


Maybe game devs need to take a page out of Tangled's book. :D

Hahahaha...yes. Dead Or Alive syndrome ahoy! (In that, the hair had boxy collision with objects and often went THROUGH the character's limbs. Y'figure a game that big on aesthetics would...y'know.)
