Maaaan, I wish I could play Arkham City. And Arkham Asylum, for that matter. :(

See, this is the Joker I like best. The one who flirts with Batman because getting under Batman's skin is his favourite way to pass the time. The one who is fixated on Batman, who doesn't plan how to pull of a heist without gaining Batman's attention but instead plans how to make Batman pay the most amount of attention to him.

I hate where the comics have been going with the Joker over the past few years (well, longer than that, but it's just been really glaring lately).

Comics!Joker seems determined to be as sick and evil and twisted as possible just so he can say he's totes sick and evil and twisted and waaaay more interesting than Black Mask and his torture fetish, honest. He's not even a wildcard anymore - just imagine the most pointlessly cruel and disgusting path possible and that's what comics!Joker will take. He doesn't even seem to care about getting inside Batman's head anymore. If he interacts with Batman, it's either some halfhearted attempt to kill him without any real flair, or him hurting innocent people to try and make Batman guilty, which he's done a million times before without even changing up his act.

I feel like The Killing Joke and A Death in the Family sort of created this atmosphere in which people feel like the Joker needs to always be "topping" his last big heinous act without really understanding what was at the heart of those two famous stories (which I understand are problematic, but damn).

I hate Grant Morrison's "super sanity" cop out as well. Okay, I hate how Grant Morrison writes the Joker period. :T

I was going to rant some more, but you basically summed it all up. I miss 80's Joker. Early 90's Joker. BTAS Joker. His return to form is the best part about the Arkham ____ games imo.

Yeeessssssss. This ridiculous need to keep trying to push limits further is ridiculous. The Joker took out a Robin and a Batgirl. There's not really any topping that, unless he kills the entire Batfamily in one swoop. So they should just stop trying top it! Honestly, it'd be creepier to know that he's done these terrible things and there's the threat that he could do them again but he's content planning his strange schemes that only make sense to him. Because there's the knowledge that one day one of those schemes will involve something equally awful, you just don't know when it'll happen.

The Joker is still held up as one of the most dangerous villains in the DCU. And that can be played really well, like at the end of Infinite Crisis when Lex sets the Joker on the imposter-Luthor. If Lex Luthor says the Joker isn't somebody who's shit list you don't want to be on, it means something. But when you've got terrible stuff happening like Dr Light in Identity Crisis or Black Mask in War Games, then not only does this whole 'have to top his last evil deed' mentality mean the writers have to compete with The Killing Joke and Death In The Family, they also have to compete with other villains. And the comics end up unenjoyable or even repulsive for it.

I literally just finished listening to the messages from the Joker in that game, the one where he leaves you eight or nine voicemails in a row. Jealous boyfriend much? I swear, Joker, you're still Batman's favorite villain to punch in the face, just stop calling already.

I've been watching my husband play this game since he got it. I think he's been getting annoyed at my "OMG JOKER JUST KISS HIM ALREADY!" comments. If Catwoman pulled her zipper up a bit and if they said "bitch" less, it'd be the perfectess game ever.

Ohhhh you HAVE to play this game. The internet can provide you with screencaps and animations, but you totally have to play it to really appreciate how possessive Joker gets. I want to tell you spoilers, but I really don't want to ruin it for you. You'll LOVE this game, though.

This game reminds me of when I played Kingdom Hearts 2 and after the ending, I was like, "Wait, so....Riku and Sora are together, right? Disney supports a gay couple?" and then it took a week for my friends to convince me they weren't canon (but I secretly still think they are). This game makes me think that one-sided Joker/Batman is totally canon.

It reminds me of Wesker and Chris from Resident Evil.

"Chris, you are quite a disappointment to me"
"CHRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS!"

Once...only ONCE...in the entire game does he acknowledge Chris's partner Sheva. But other than that, he only talks to Chris. He only acknowledges Chris. He only attacks Chris during boss battles (he will go after Sheva only if she tries to shoot him). His final words as he is dying are "CHRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS!"

The part that got to me the most was the part where Batman chooses the Joker over Talia. I don't want to spoil it for anybody, but you'll know what I'm talking about once you finish the game.

Also...Joker singing "Only You" to Batman. Yep, Rocksteady knew what they were doing with this game.

Okay, at what point does Bats get tied up and Joker sit on his lap? Because I totally missed this.

I wouldn't say I ship it, but they have a...very complex and intriguing relationship, for sure. The ending killed me.

Right after you find him dead only not dead and Harley hits Batman in the face with a bat. He wakes up tied to a chair and while the Joker rambles at him, he ends up sitting in Batman's lap.

And there was also that whole 'I know you've always wanted a piece of me inside you' thing after that. Oh, Joker. He was filthy in this game and I loved it.

I've always been interested in their dynamic, but couldn't get into actually shipping it. I've always seen Joker as a stalker-with-a-crush/deliberately winding up Batman type and Batman's trying to ignore it but...you're right OP. Playing this game is making it hard for me to NOT say "I've been in denial all this time, I think I do ship it!"
