You know when someone says they'll "fuck you into next week/month/year/etc.", Erik fucks people back into last year.

I did noticed he looked younger in the beach scene, I'm guessing it was a result of lighting, his teary-eyed look and his face being flushed and puffy.

Never saw this when watching this particular movie, but this phenomenon amuses the fuck out of me when films use child actors. I think it was the second Harry Potter film when their voices started breaking, and since they filmed the thing backward, the boys' voices were higher at the end and lower/cracking at the beginning.

That said, the timeline for this movie confuses and frustrates me way more than it should.

Agreed on the timeline bit. A week, movie? A week? You could have just as easily said that training montage lasted months, and then we wouldn't be glaring at you quite so hard.

How about...scenes aren't filmed in order? Lighting? Make-up? Illness? I'm sure there are hundreds of movie-making reasons that could explain this, none of which actually involve the plot. ;)
