Are you the one who mentioned writing the Mary Sue the other day?

OP

(Anonymous) 2011-10-25 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
lol, yeah...I am. I'm 5000+ words in now.

[identity profile] ewesheep.livejournal.com 2011-10-25 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
I'm curious. What is he from?

[identity profile] hako-neko.livejournal.com 2011-10-25 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
That's Zsasz from Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

[identity profile] insanenoodlyguy.livejournal.com 2011-10-25 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Indicentally... OP would quite literally be murdered. Not only is he the bugfuck crazy nihilist type that believes murdering others is doing them a favor... he prefers women.

That and making children fight each other to the death, with "dibs" on the winners.

(OP is insane)

So... You're basically Zsasz's Harley?

OP

(Anonymous) 2011-10-25 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my god yes. <3

[identity profile] gabzillaz.livejournal.com 2011-10-25 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
No.

[identity profile] weekendoffender.livejournal.com 2011-10-25 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Fuck yeah, Zsasz! I was ridiculously attracted to him in AA.

OP

(Anonymous) 2011-10-25 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
I hardly even paid attention to him in AA for some reason (but now I want to play it again with my new-found appreciation). I think it's because in AC he got more of a speaking role. And that fucking laughter at his hideout... <3

And lines like, "My flesh is begging for you to fail, Batman." Swoon city.

I think I liked him so much was because he was the first villain you dealt with (well, apart from Joker). I was really interested in his story too, I thought it was one of the more interesting ones of the game (I'm only getting into the comics now, so I don't know much about him outside of the game).

Plus, his character design certainly helped. I have a thing for scars ;)

Stockholm Syndrome. Just saying.

[identity profile] insanenoodlyguy.livejournal.com 2011-10-25 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think anybody would live long enough in Zsaz's captivity to develop this.

(Anonymous) 2011-10-25 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Let's hope you have a Poison Ivy to your Harley to talk you out of it.

(Anonymous) 2011-10-25 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
I couldn't be less attracted to Zsaz if I tried. Fuck you for making me sped hours running all over the city to prevent you from kiling your hostages, you dull bastard. No, I most certainly do NOT give a shit about your life story!

(Anonymous) 2011-10-25 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
lol pretty much this

(Anonymous) 2011-10-25 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
THIS. So you screwed your life over by being a complete idiot and now you want to kill everyone. Boo hoo, just let me find you so I can punch your fucking face in.

OP

(Anonymous) 2011-10-25 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno, I just feel this weird kinship with him. He was a normal dude who was rich, his parents died, and suddenly he didn't know what to do with himself. I also come from a wealthy family, had a normal childhood, but unfortunately I never had to deal with any problems in my life so I have literally zero coping mechanisms aside from curling into a ball and hoping it will all go away.

Zsasz dealt with his parents' death poorly, but it was all he knew how to do at the time. When he lost his money, the one semblance of his former life he could still cling to, that was it, he was completely at a loss because he didn't know how to live without.

I could ramble about this asshole for hours, haha...

AYRT

I can't judge too harshly, I guess, I have kind of the same thing with Mad Hatter and, to a lesser extent, Scarecrow. Not kinship, really, but just a lot of sympathy for them. I mean, after the Mad Hatter sequence in Arkham City I couldn't even feel that great about beating him because I was so stuck on how much he needed help from an actual, good psychiatrist. Listening to the interview tapes just made it worse...

OP again

This secret reminds me of that one Scarecrow story where this nice lady kept leaving him soup and he killed her. You don't fuck with these villains. We can dream, but there is no way in hell ANYONE, let alone us, could change them.

(Anonymous) 2011-10-25 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It's probably just the retarded optimist in me, but I really do think that if any of then could be rehabilitated if given the right treatment, it's Zsasz. If only because he spent the majority of his life being so blasted normal. I have to believe that could be reclaimed somehow.

Spoken like a true stars-in-her-eyes fangirl.

That's interesting, since Zsasz always came across as one of the villains who could never be saved IMO.

Funnily enough, I think the villain with the most potential to be rehabilitated is the Joker. It is already something that has been explored in the comics (in the stories where Joker returns to a normal life once Batman is gone) but maybe it's because, for all intents and purposes, he isn't an insane man. Not by any professional definition of "insanity" anyway. Perhaps he has antisocial personality disorder...but that is something that many people live with and cope with, without ever committing criminal acts. Of course, there are the ones who don't. But the Joker does seem to genuinely know what is right or wrong...at least by legal standards. He just doesn't give a shit.
