The human soul has nothing to do with the body, though. Once you die your soul leaves your body and goes elsewhere. What does it matter what happens to your body then?

Different beliefs for different people. So who is to really say where the soul differently goes... or if we have one for that matter.

I know what we should do! How about since there are all of these people alive right now who have healthy organs and other people need organs, we take some of the healthy living people and kill them just to harvest their organs to benefit someone else. They'll be dead at that point so what does it matter that they might not have wanted to be killed for their organs? They ~won't exists anymore as people~ so it's not like it matters at all.

Now you're just being silly. Killing them for organs would be murder. However, the removal of the organs once they are dead is not murder - regardless of how they came to be dead in the first place. How is it difficult to see the difference?

The point is, the person's feelings while they're alive matter. If the idea of this one specific thing being done to a person's body after their death makes that person significantly unhappy while they're alive - i.e. that thought causes the living person unhappiness and distress - it's kind of shitty to just dismiss that because you think their distress won't continue after death.

Its going to decay into mush after you die, horrible, stinking, oozing, foetid, pestilent, mush. How is having a piece of that meat and tissue cut away to help someone get a better quality of life, and ease their passage through the world a violation? That's actually an improvement on what will happen to the body. The perfection of your pretty eyes is going to be despoiled by cruel nature, so you aren't going to be preserving anything by not improving someone else's life.

Plus if you die of anything other than old age you'll probably get autopsied anyway.

Also agree. FFS it's still YOUR body and no one has any right to be a self-righteous dick about you choosing not to donate, whether you're a person at that point or not.

There are plenty of others willing to donate, and it won't impede science as we know it if a few people don't like the idea of their bodies being harvested at death.

Just pointing out, there are not "plenty of others willing to donate". People die while on the waiting list all the time. We need more donors and it is ridiculous that someone wouldn't want to donate healthy organs after they die.
