It seems to me that saying "I'd do anything ___ said," and meaning it is unhealthy regardless of who it is.

I don't disagree with you, but I think it's about character context in this case. Akio's entire shtick was fucking with people and manipulating them for his sadistic designs. I imagine that's where OP was coming from.

Kind of like the secret from ljsecrets a while back where someone said they weren't suicidal, but they'd drink poison koolaid for a specific cultist (don't remember which one). OP is saying he/she would follow Akio into the Hell he crafted for them.

Oh, I know who Akio is, and I get the idea, but... I still think it's not a terribly good thing, regardless.
