Secondary to this is the whole zeitgeist. It’s just some ethereal quality that’s hard to put your finger on exactly what, but the whole pure blood Aryan mythology, the marches and public spectacles, the almost worldwide domination of other countries, the attempt at something so ‘great’ (meaning large or immense here), the experiments and camps, the links to the supernatural, the ideology of elite groups trying to take on the world (as inaccurate as a historical reality as that is). They all add up to something much greater than their individual parts, that’s just the ultimate turn-on. And the AUs are fun too.
