I love Rent. I've seen it a ton of times. I can't even begin to express the ways this show has changed my life.

However, I completely agree. If I were them, I would stopped the protest and taken the free rent. And I've always had an issue with the way Mark and Roger look down on Benny for... I don't know, actually wanting to be successful at what he does? He WANTS to help them. Not that Benny doesn't have asshole moments, but that's not one of them.

I agree with this. Back in my teen days, I totally agreed with Mark and Roger. Looking at it now, I scratch my head. He's offering you free shelter and a chance to push your careers forward with minimal strings attached. And this is bad because...?
This especially sunk in after I made short films in school. Dear god, does it sink money.
