What's hard to understand about that is why, then, Adele had Mellie kill the person who was raping Sierra.

Clearly, she thought it was abhorrent enough to have the guy killed, which is pretty extreme for someone who doesn't give a shit. What is so difficult to understand about that?

no. we said she didn't care about pria being raped when she thought pria was a schizophrenic. she presumably thinks dolls are more human than schizophrenics; that is the attitude her actions demonstrate. this does not have to be explicitly said a character's speech, because that's how writing works, there's this thing called "show, don't tell."

of the pria they thought was a schizophrenic, yes. unless you are saying they thought she was a human being but are ok with taking any human being against their will and using them for sex, but that would only back up the argument that adele was a very nasty piece of work.

saying a character does not think of someone as a human being when that character treats that person as something subhuman, without the rights of a normal human being, is perfectly accurate.

I love and laugh at how the definitions change with the argument.

I'm not okay with someone being forced into it. Pria was forced into it. I do not agree with what happened to Pria. But I can and do hold a completely different opinion for Echo, and to the other dolls. They agreed. Therefore they gave permission. Whether you like it or not, their life is their own, they can choose to do with it what they like.

Their choice.

Wanking on about how the one person never chose it does not make my opinion any less. I say it is up to a person to choose their life. Pria didn't; I agree with that. The rest agreed. Their choice. Not yours.

I think I agree with this if the mentally ill dolls agreed to be there as a cure and were capable of consent (? I have not seen the show and I'll be shutting up after this), then no it's not rape. They gave their consent. If the mentally ill person is so out of it that they can't consent, then it's nebulous to me. If this doll process is a cure--an actual cure--, then I think they probably would consent to it if they could understand and it gave them a life they could live.....but may not.........it's very grey for me here. I'd consent to it rather than live my life a medicated, drool state or whatever. To me it's like someone in a diabetic state, confused, refusing meds, and health workers can't do anything about it until the person passes out, and is then presumed to give consent to be treated. Should they let that person die b/c when conscious they were refusing treatment? Evidently Pria didn't consent to it so it's rape. And the controller is outraged and takes action on it.

The person assumed to be mentally ill definitely does not consent in the show, in fact she's trying to resist, but is too drugged up for anyone to listen to her because they've been told she's crazy.

Um no, the doll process of wiping her personality out even if it was a cure would not mean they had to prostitute her out. They could have thought they were curing her but they were raping her either way. The sex was not part of the cure, it was their way of profiting (not all her assignments involved sex but many did).

The controller is only outraged when she discovers that the mentally ill person was not mentally ill but had been drugged to seem very mentally ill by an evil guy who wanted to use her for sex. When she thought the woman was a plain regular mentally ill person she didn't care.

The rest of your comment has nothing to do with what anyone else is talking about. They're talking about Priya, and potential other severely mentally ill people any dollhouse might take and prostitute out against their will.

No one's said anything against people who choosing it if they want to.

So then she reacted the same way when anyone else had sex with the dolls?
