Notes:

Somebody's been spamming the submissions post with old secrets, apparently (for what actual purpose, I'm not sure). Just give me a heads up and I'll take the repeats down.

People who say that Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was "the worst Trek ever", are implying that they actually liked Star Trek: Voyager more.

This tells me all I have to know about the (lack of) taste some people have.

Also, it's untrue. DS9 was by far the best Trek ever. But then again I was also a fan of the new BSG, and that had its haters too. I guess some people just really hate things like plot and character development. I guess that explains why Larry the cable guy was so popular? LOL.

I like plot and character development. I think plot and character development are awesome.

I just hate shitty dialogue, shitty acting, and unfunny jokes.

gee, I guess that makes me just like the Larry the Cable Guy fans. \o/

I'm just boggling at how anyone could even think that Voyager was somehow better than DS9. Like... seriously?

That's not directed to you, just I'm noticing a few others in this thread have actually said so. Like... ooookay! LOL

I mean, I started rewatching Voyager when it finally got on Netflix, as I had missed a whole stretch of episodes back when it was new, and I thought I'd give it a second chance. But no, it was was boring and tedious as ever. So much potential there that was just totally wasted.

Then DS9 came to Netflix, and I started watching that again from the beginning. While it had a slow start, it does have a very good build up and it delivers quite well. But it was just as good as I remembered it. The only show from that time period I liked more than it was Babylon 5, though that one also had a less than stellar first season.

...the thing I couldn't stand was how badly DS9 was ripping off Bab5's epic JMS writing marathon. (We shall not speak of the movies, or of Crusade.)

Not that old chestnut? Can't we all just get along?

[identity profile] amarielah.livejournal.com 2011-11-01 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
As someone who has recently watched TNG, Voyager and DS9, and thoroughly enjoyed all three, I don't really see how one can criticize any particular Trek series as having overall better/worse acting than any other. There's definitely a "Trek" style of acting as far as I can see, and even the darker DS9 implements it.

But then, you may just not like Trek in general. In which case this point is moot.

I think you typed "Voyager" when you meant to type "Enterprise".

Paul McGann doesn't count!

Or, if that's a reference not everyone gets: Everyone knows that when you talk about things you're not talking about Enterprise.

Actually, with Season 4, Enterprise definitely redeemed itself. There was some very cool storytelling in that season. The problems with Enterprise can be linked right back to Berman & Braga. When they got sidelined, it improved immeasurably, it just didn't happen fast enough to save the show.

Ah, the "you don't like what I do, so you must be thick and stupid" contingent finally shows up. Plenty of Babylon 5 fans probably question your brightness, too. ;-)
