I'm in the middle of TNG, having been a fetus when the show premiered and just now playing catch up so I've got to DS9 yet, but I thought DS9 was supposed to be the best series? At least that's what I've heard from fans (causal fans and Trekkies). Not that you aren't entitled to your opinion. And, you certainly gave good reason why you didn't like it.

I made my husband start watching TNG with me because I though we could be geeky together since it's an old show and there's not really anyone to be fangirl-y/geeky about it with. This makes me wonder if he's telling me the truth about liking it.

I didn't like it the first time, as I was watching it in scrambled order on fuzzy, crackly video tapes, but when I watched it on dvd I loved it. It is different than the rest of the herd, though, so I'm sure you're not alone in disliking it.

THIS SECRET MAKES ME HAPPY. ♥ It's awful, it's so awful. And when people come along and defend it, which they do nearly all the time, it just turns out they haven't seen it for a really long time. Or they only watch the Garak episodes. Or they just mean they like the last season and you're not allowed to judge it on the SIX OTHER TEDIOUS SEASONS, that's apparently unreasonable. Or they're just LIARS WHO LIE TO THEMSELVES WITH LIES. It's a terrible thing. I am sorry you had to sit through it AND pretend to like it, that's nearly unthinkable.

I love DS9. Admittedly the first season is rubbish but once it gets going its great. I've found of all the Trek shows DS9 has the best rewatch value. I really don't get the hate.

People who say that Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was "the worst Trek ever", are implying that they actually liked Star Trek: Voyager more.

This tells me all I have to know about the (lack of) taste some people have.

Also, it's untrue. DS9 was by far the best Trek ever. But then again I was also a fan of the new BSG, and that had its haters too. I guess some people just really hate things like plot and character development. I guess that explains why Larry the cable guy was so popular? LOL.

Congratulations you hate something. There are tons of things I hate doesn't mean I need to scream about it to other people to feel justified in my opinion.

Tell this horrible person that made you watch this terrible show, that it just isn't your thing. My best friend really can't stand Trek in general yet its one of my main fandoms doesn't mean we can't get along or have things to talk about.

Right there with you mate. DS9 is terribly boring. The characters are dull and the dialogue.. rubbish.

I've seen every episode of the other series (sans TAS) and I love them but DS9 is just a wretched waste of time. Glad to know someone else hates its mediocrity too :V

I love it, but I can see why some people wouldn't.

I don't know why you'd call it humorless, though. There's rarely an episode where I don't laugh, with the exception of the really super serious ones.

I love Ds9, but hey, it really isn't for everyone. I do HATE the first two seasons. The show just floundered along and was so wooden, you could make a table out of it.

That said, I adore seasons three to seven. But damn, I get hating it if you watched the whole damn thing and disliked everything. :( If someone forced me to watch Enterprise I'd hate it as much as you hate DS9.

I understand not liking or not enjoying DS9, but if you genuinely think it's *bad*, NOPE. As a complete work, its better in comparison to its companions. I really don't think that's debatable.

I think the characters are what really push people away from it. I think its a personality thing. For example, I know most people watch Voyager for the characters (as you sure as hell wouldn't be watching for anything else, lets be honest) but most of them just grate on me. I find the cast of DS9 much more relatable- to me personally, anyway.

But whatever floats you boat, anon. You're allowed not to like it.

I watched some of DS9 with a friend of mine a few years back; I didn't catch most of it on TV back in the day, but she had the first season on DVD.

...

I thought Bashir was kinda adorable and his bromance with O'Brian to be really cute. I... think that's about all I took away from it though. None of the other characters did much for me. *Shrugs* But then, I like Voyager, so I don't think my tastes account for much. I like TNG best though. Eee.
