I don't care what the creator thinks. The Alto that I came to understand through the text I experienced, if forced to choose between Alto or Ranka, would regret either choice. And the girls would regret making him choose. And they love each other, too.
Stable triad. I feel very strongly about this.

Here's my other problem with the Macross Frontier films: they seem totally superfluous to me. The 25 episodes of the show were such a perfect encapsulation of what the Macross franchise is about, what makes it great, that doing a theatrical remake struck me as pointless. I tried to watch it and I was just bored. (And not because my OT3 apparently gets torpedoed, either; that's actually only one reason I like Frontier, and not the biggest one.)
So what's this 30th Macross Anniversary thing? And why is it not about the Megaroad? Because honestly, haven't we as fans earned the right to fucking know what happened to Hikaru, Misa, and Minmei? Haven't we earned that much?!

TBH it sounds like maybe you need to move on from your Alto altogether. Try to find someone who makes you feel like the unique and worthwhile person you are, or even better, work on making yourself feel that way regardless of who you have feelings for. You're not weak, you've just found yourself in a tough situation. But you're better than that, OP. <3
