I'm American so we have Dancing With the Stars, but I agree, I love seeing a show that is unapologetically campy and over the top and doesn't take itself seriously. For example X Factor and American Idol bug me with their ~drama~ and sob stories and THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD. I don't know Strictly but I also love Tom Bergeron who hosts DWTS...it's just a fun show that's not afraid to be silly, I love that

I'm a dalek so we have genocide, but I agree, I love seeing a show that is unapologetically camp and over the top and doesn't take itself seriously. For example Xterminate Factor and Skaro Idol bug me with their ~drama~ and sob stories and THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD. I don't know Dancing but I also love Davros who oversees our genocide... it's just a fun show and not afraid to be silly, I love that.

ok, did I say something really stupid without realizing it. Is Strictly really different from Dancing? I assumed they were basically the same thing, AM I CRAZY

Same here. Also American. Also love DWTS. It's silly, it's crazy, and it's fun. Strangely, I just like the idea of taking a bunch of people and seeing if they can dance. Sometimes it really can surprise you.

Strictly is good old-fashioned family entertainment, and I mean that in the best possible way. It's fun and colourful and there's so much excitement. Sure, there's some snarking from the judges, but it's mostly directed at each other and they're over it by the end of the episode. X-Factor seems to encourage feuds between its acts and its panelists for maximum headlines, but after a while it becomes obvious that they're doing it for the cameras, and it cheapens the viewing experience. Strictly isn't like that at all (especially now Arleen's gone).

I look forward to it every week, because for a couple of hours, I get to sit and watch some ballroom dancing, with lovely people, gorgeous outfits, and afterwards I feel so HAPPY :DDDD

Agreed. Strictly is the best part of my week because it's this magical place where everyone is basically BFFS and adorable and gaaah, they are all the best.
