You should tell your friend this--probably in an assertive manner though, and with the language cleaned up so there's a chance they'll listen. But I agree with you too on the debate of liking both Wheatley and GLaDOS. I think they're both awesome for their character and all of their flaws. I don't get why people think the love for GLaDOS has taken a backseat to Wheatley. All I see are people rushing to defend their love for the psychotic femmebot.

pretty sure we just recently had a secret akin to this. the general consensus was that there are plenty of other ways to make villains villainous. i don't think that misogyny is a necessary subject for most video games to tackle, especially video games that are incredibly silly like mortal kombat. ideally, women would feel as comfortable playing these games as men do.

you know, i just saw a trailer for the movie, and i was surprised by the lack of uncanny valley. the style looks horrible in screenshots, but once in motion it looks surprisingly smooth and natural

For some reason that picture of the two of them has always bugged me and now I think I know why: Rapunzel has her arms out like as if she was expecting a hug from the front, like most people do when they show affection towards the other.

But Gothel is hugging her from behind...where her hair is. It's practically like she's trying to hug her hair, the real focus of her affection, instead. :\

I'm American so we have Dancing With the Stars, but I agree, I love seeing a show that is unapologetically campy and over the top and doesn't take itself seriously. For example X Factor and American Idol bug me with their ~drama~ and sob stories and THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD. I don't know Strictly but I also love Tom Bergeron who hosts DWTS...it's just a fun show that's not afraid to be silly, I love that

You know what? You might get hate for this, but I think it's an understandable reaction.
As someone who is in the Supernatural fandom, it took me a WHILE to get used to all the incest. I have a sibling and the idea of being anything but his sister grosses me out, big time. But you sort of have to learn to live and let live. There's nothing wrong with being squicked by a kink...as long as you're not attacking people who enjoy it.

The thing is, I live in syracuse new york, so I was predisposed to hate this movie.

First, I realize liberty is always taken with these things. But would it have killed them to put some fucking stock footage pans of the actual goddamn down in? It'd probably be cheaper then the fake ones they made that I knew immediately weren't from Syracuse, and I know we have them.

Second... it wouldn't have fucking worked. Syracuse has a shitload of snow. As a result, we have a shitload of plows. Taking down one plow would stop nothing at all. The children would have nothing to look forward to but a criminal investigation.

I'm sure I didn't give a shit about movies that similarly ignored logic/locale in my childhood, but this was the one that hit close to my home.

I felt like this a lot when I was in the SPN fandom. I actually went through a period where I pretended to love a particular slash pairing just so I didn't seem so much like a sore thumb.
