I get this. The games I've played recently (well, combination of playing and watching the SO play because I get too freaked out) are "Portal 2" and "Bioshock". They're less fun when I allow myself to think, "If I were really in Aperture/Rapture, I'd be huddled in a corner crying while waiting for death."

Granted, I'm talking about being trapped in a world of murderous crazy, not torture, but it's the same idea.

I don't know about bioshock, but I kind of like to imagine that I'd be fine with the regular testing in Portal. But everything else, like walking through the abandoned parts of Aperture? I'd be so fucking scared. And as for "Chell doesn't talk because she's stubborn"? I probably would have started talking in the very first test chamber!

Rapture is full of armed crazy people. Better hope you know what you're doing with that gun.

In "Portal", I found even the regular testing creepy. I might be able to force myself through it until I get to the rooms with acid. Hell, no, I'm staying in the elevator. Turrets? I hope GLaDOS enjoys what a crying, gibbering mess I am.

If I'd even make it to old Aperture in the second game, I'd have a nervous breakdown. That place was nightmare fuel for me. Just those keep out signs were enough to make me want to run in the other direction. Talk about atmosphere...

The acid would be a huge turn-off. Especially without shoes in the first game!

I probably would have hugged potato!GLaDOS and cried when I found her, because FINALLY I wouldn't have to be alone anymore.

The atmosphere in the games is really great in general. Oh, and Rattman's scribbling on the walls? Yeah, the cake is a lie is an overused meme these days, but when I reached that chamber, I found it rather disconcerting.

Even with those knee braces, you'd feel some impact. I'd be crying in pain- I am a wuss when it comes to pain.

Oh, yes. I'd be talking non-stop to that potato, begging her for some encouragement. Now I'm starting to think I'd develop Stockholm Syndrome in the first game as a coping measure.

"Portal" does a good job of getting to you. I'll be the first to admit I have a low tolerance for this stuff (and yet I love "Portal") and the Rattman dens scared me.

I also think that I would have become bffs with Wheatley. I wouldn't have stopped talking to him. I wonder if he'd still have betrayed me then.

Yeah, Left 4 Dead had a similar effect on me. However, I felt that I barely had time to read the things written on the walls because the zombies were already banging on the doors. In Portal, you have all the time you want.
