(Anonymous) 2007-06-29 03:17 am (UTC)(link)In the fic I was writing, it's placed on the same world, but the timeline's several altered because a couple events ended out differently. The characters are still themselves, but the original cast is closer to original game canon characterisation than they were in AC or DoC, so as soon as AC came out everyone started calling OOC.
And that? That makes me hate the fandom. My fic was placed during the timeframe of the original game, there's really no reason for the characters in it to act like they did in AC. And the SHM didn't even show up until fairly far into the fic, too, and after a few explanations and AU history explanations, they fell into the same roles they have in AC.
But the plot of AC wouldn't have happened yet, and even if the fic were to eventually catch up to that point it wouldn't happen either, because everything's different.
After the eighth or ninth person telling me that I needed to rewatch AC to make sure my fic could match up with its events, I gave up.
