I could see that. It does have a rather surreal darkness to it. But that's what I like about it.

if we're talking about movies that irrationally scared us as children: Mouse. Hunt. from what I hear now, that movie is in no way scary. tell that to traumatized little me.

My dad took me to see Mouse Hunt in the theater. I don't remember why, but I was terrified of the ending too and I don't think I've seen it since. :[

My parents took me to see it in theatres on CHRISTMAS DAY. I flipped out right toward the beginning, but they refused to leave as I continued to beg - apparently they were enjoying it as a comedy.

It was Little Nemo for me. God, don't even ask me about the majority of that movie, I just remember the dirigible and the little boy and his pet... flying squirrel maybe? And the land/kingdom of dreams, and then the fact that there was a Nightmare or Nightmares or something like that and it scared me shitless. I know I saw it more than once, and I remember quite a bit of a lot of the movies I saw back then, so I think I legit blocked most of this movie out of my mind.

Oh my god! Little Nemo! Your fear is justified, I think, haha. It was actually surprisingly dark. I love that movie but it definitely freaked me the hell out as a kid too. That giant door with the smog coming out of it.... eugh, that still creeps me out.

I'm so glad it wasn't just me. My friends and family gave me so much shit for that. When it was rereleased in theatres, they all made me go and watch it.

(It's funny, because it's only the part in the beginning where he jumps out of the bushes and screams that freaks me out. Other than that, I really like the movie. And the music is awesome.)
