Probably got it from dear old bigoted Uncle Ron. I mean lets face it, even if harry and Ginny keep saying that Slytherin does not equal bad, and Sevvie-babes was really a good guy in the end, Ron is still going to have been banging on about those snakey bastards at every family dinner. Because Ron was an asshole. I bet every time Harry and Ginny turned their backs, Ron was all "yeah they say they'll love you if you get sorted into snake-central, but they really be dissapointed, and you won't be a-commin' over here for Christmas dinner no mores." Ron would probably justify it to himself as just tryin' ta be honest and tell it like it is.

I believe that that is probably where he got nerves about Slytherin, forgiving and forgetting was never Ron's strong point, nor was thinking before he spoke, so it probably slipped out more than once. However I may have chosen to exaggeratedly state that in an excessively humorous way for funsies. Because the Potter-verse needs more people writing "Sevvie-babes" when referring to Snape, you know it to be true. FWIW I do not believe Ron would be intentionally mentally scarring the kid, it was probably more by accident.

I don't believe Ron would be intentionally rude about Slytherin either but I can see him making a lot of jokes about Slytherin and that making an impression on the kids.

It is the sort of thing that would have an affect, particularly on a kid that was a bit sensitive already like some kids are. It was probably Ron says something stupid and a bit bitchy about Slytherin students (probably recounting one of his epic tales of his school days, like when he....er....), Hermione jabs him the stomach with those really sharp elbows of hers and gives a little cough and a meaningful nod to Al-Sev as if to say "shut the fuck up you ginger bastard you're being rude and the kid might end up there", and that is it. But lather, rinse, repeat enough and even the dullest kid is going to end up taking it a bit to heart.

Fair enough. The instances I've seen of Ron-bashing are with Harry shipped with someone completely off the wall (i.e. Voldemort).

To be fair, though, I really don't know much about what goes on in this fandom. I've never really made an effort to get involved, despite loving the books and movies, because for one I have lots of other fandoms and only so much time, and for another thing I've heard crazy things about it. Maybe now that I've been on the internetz longer I'll give it another shot...
