care to explain?

I've seen every single episode and I used to look forward to it every week, for the great characters and even for the medical plots. And I feel like now I can't look away, even though I hate virtually everything they'd done to the show.

If there were going to be a bunch more seasons maybe even I would give it up but there's only one season left and I want to know how it ends, even though I'm sure it will be trainwreck of epic proportions.

Maybe it still doesn't make sense... but that's about it.

I used to watch it and after I thought I might not like it any more, I dropped it pretty fast and just stopped caring about it. I do this with all shows bc it's a waste of time to watch smth you hate.

I love a good trainwreck, but for me to watch one it has to either start that way or get so ridiculous you cant turn away. House was neither of those.

The 8th is the last season? Is this stated somewhere official? (Just curious. I'm really not surprised if it is. The show has steadily gone downhill, and I'm kinda waiting for the trainwreck to end.)

I will stick with a show that I don't like anymore in hopes that maybe it'll stop sucking and go back to how I liked it before. Except after awhile I'll just give up. I did with House. I can't stand it anymore and I stuck it out for another whole season before I gave up hope of ever liking it again. It's not always the show's fault either. Sometimes my preferences change, NBD.

sticking around just hoping this will go back to the way you liked them just makes no sense to me. you could be waiting a damn long time and yeah it's only 40 minutes per week but that's irrelevant.

To be fair to the above anon, sometimes shows you aren't really feeling anymore *will* draw you back in with one or two amazing episodes each time you're about to quit. It's hard to know when there won't be any of those at all anymore.

Not sure about TV shows, but it happened to me several times with comics.
So I would expect a TV show to possibly maybe do that, since writers often change each season, and they always bring new characters.
Since for me, shows are very much character-driven (at least half of the appeal, I'd say), I've had cases where a new character was enough to make me find a renewed interest into a show.

I've dropped manga, webcomics before for the same reasons I drop tv shows. good characters can't save shitty plot lines, and shitty characters can't save anything.

I'd just rather spend my time on other things, instead of wasting time on something I no longer like.

I'm not into House, but I do watch CSI:, and last season made me want to tear my hair out. I could barely stand it, but I kept watching because I kept HOPING it would get better and go back to being the show I loved in the first place. In this particular case, the patience paid off; this year's season has been much more enjoyable to watch so far. I think it just depends on your tolerance level, and just how badly you feel your show of choice is being butchered.

another show I dropped, it just went on too long and I got bored.

it's only ever American shows I end up dropping because they just never know when to stop.
