Heh. It's funny, because I was just thinking about this the other day. The first fanfic I wrote, my beta at the time insisted that I needed more dialogue and dirty talk during the sex. I was really kind of uncomfortable with it and thought it seemed forced and fake. Because that's just not my thing. When I'm having amazingly hot sex, there's very little talky talk going on. My favorite sex scenes in fiction involve very minimal dialogue, but rich narration and description of senses.

BUT - and others have said this, YMMV. Some people *need* that dirty-talk. Others, not so much.

"Don't like, don't read," however, is just a stupid reaction, I'm sorry. How the hell do you know whether or not to read it? Are we going to start demanding warnings for explicit dialogue in smut now, too?

It's already been done. I've seen warnings for "dirty talk". I'm so freaking tired of this crap.

I 'warn' for pretty much everything in my porn. Not because I think people have squicks and triggers for things like dirty talk or double pen (though it could happen), but because everyone has varying kinks, and it makes it easier for people to decide which to read.

That way people who have no interest in dirty talk, or gun play, or rimming, etc, don't have to get invested in the fic or characters and then have to frantically back button when they come across something they don't like.

Should everyone label everything? IMO, no. I don't care if you do or don't label your fics. I prefer a minimum of a rating, and if it's shipfic, I like to know the pairing, but that's about it. There are kinks I don't enjoy, but I'm content to just back button if the fic starts to head that way.
